I am planning to run a Warhammer 40k mini-tournament during the month of October, which I am calling "Ork-tober Fest." The idea is an ork-only tournament to see who is the warboss of Victory Gamers. Still flexible on the mechanics, but tentatively 1500 points, unbound or battle-forged armies, Forge World and Lords of War allowed. Fixed number of entrants, can play games over course of the month at your convenience at Victory Comics or at another place, with winner(s) determined at end based on battle points and W-L. Will get a trophy of some kind for winner(s), but generally will be a friendly format like that used at the Las Vegas Open (which was a huge amount of fun!) So anyone interested, or is this group just a bunch of soft 'umies? Let me know, either in comments below or by e-mail. If there is sufficient interest, I'll make this happen. (Btw, the following month may be "Nid-vember" - Nids versus all comers team tournament. More to come on that...) |
A new page has been added to the website in order to recognize the work that others are doing in the gaming community and to help put gamers in contact with these resources. Please check out the new page and click on the links to see what others in the area have to offer. If there are other resources that deserve a mention or would be of interest to others, send an email via the email form on the "Find a Game" page with the name and web address for the resource. We will try to build up this list of resources over time. Hope you find it useful!
Really looking forward to building a gaming community! Right now, things are very much in the start up phase: getting the word out, welcoming new members, and working out bugs. Please help spread the news to anyone you know who is interested in miniature gaming. I've posted notices on Beltway Gamers forums and by word of mouth to other gamers I know. Got a very nice shout out on the "Feed Your Nerd" blog, too (thanks, Greggles!).
I was at Victory Comics today putting up a flyer and talking to Samantha, the store's point of contact on events and groups. It seems that 2-5:30 pm may be a good time on Sundays to meet, given a Magic the Gathering weekly tournament that starts at 12 noon on Sundays. There are many tables at the store, however, so there should be space for other gaming, even if the MtG event goes past 2 pm. I am planning to be at the store the fourth Sunday of this month - May 24 - starting at 2 pm to play 40k and talk about the gaming group to anyone who is interested. If you signed up for our Google Group, Victory Gamers, thank you! If you haven't yet, I hope you will consider doing so. If you have any questions, please send them using the email link on the "Find a Game" page of this website. Welcome to our new website! Hope you find it useful and that it will lead to more opportunities to engage in our shared hobby. The website is very much an unfinished product, so if you have any suggestions on how to improve it, let me know!
