Star Wars. Dropzone Commander. Malifaux. 40k. Here's an update on all these things. The only thing missing is you!
- Star Wars Imperial Assault. There will be a demonstration of this game at Victory Comics on Saturday, June 27 at 4 pm. I just got this game, and it is fantastic! If you like Star Wars (and really, who doesn't?), Imperial Assault by Fantasy Flight games is another fun way to immerse yourself in a galaxy far, far away. It's a blend of board, miniature, and roleplaying games, which can be played by up to five people at a time. Up to four players can be Rebel heroes and one person is the Empire and the de facto "dungeon master" of the campaign. Missions can be interlinked in a campaign format, which is how this game really shines, although it can also be played as a skirmish miniatures game. Heroes and the Empire can power up in skills and weapons after each mission, and the result of one mission influences the next. Great game to get kids 10+ into gaming. The quality of game materials is very high. If there is interest, we will start a regular gaming group at Victory Comics. The demo is same day as an X-wing tournament at Victory Comics, so you can check out two great Star Wars games at once!
- Dropzone Commander. Looking for players! Let me know if you are interested in playing this fast paced game that is soaring in popularity and set for a major expansion by the end of the year. I've been wanting to play this game for a long, long time and finally purchased the starter set. If anyone is interested in learning the game, I'd be thrilled to set up a time to play an intro game using my set (but I get to be Scourge).
- Malifaux. Want a demonstration of this steampunk, western, gothic skirmish miniature game? Let me know and it can be arranged. I've been playing Malifaux for half a year now and I love it more and more. Fantastic fluff, solid rules, balanced play, and just plain fun. If you're curious what's it's about, I can make a demo game happen at Victory Comics. The national championship will be in our backyard at the NOVA Open over Labor Day weekend, and there are also narrative and pick up games open for play during the event.
- 40K. Looking for feedback on Ork-tober Fest. As described in my previous post, Ork-tober Fest is an ork only Warhammer 40k mini-tournament that is being planned by Victory Gamers during the month of October. See the previous post for a description of the proposed format. In response, so far I've heard a preference for 1850 points rather than 1500 points. Any other thoughts on format or on the idea in general? Want to lock in rule format soon so people know what to expect.
